Fun Holiday Series: Happy National Help a Horse Day!

Quit horsing around and pay attention to this holiday! I had a whole collection of horses when I was younger, because I thought they were such beautiful creatures but knew I’d never actually be able to own one. We had a hard enough time convincing our parents to get a dog!

While you may think at first glance that this holiday is about helping a horse cross the street or bring their groceries in, it’s a little more deep than that. Horses are divine creatures that need a lot of care and can cost a lot to keep, so many of them are abandoned and abused. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals started this holiday to bring awareness to the issue regarding horses, and to give people the opportunity to give to charities who work hard to help neglected horses.
