Fun Holiday Series: Happy National Pet Parents Day!

We all know about Mothers Day and Fathers Day, but what about those of us that are parents to pets? Well this is the holiday for you! This holiday was started by Veterinary Pet Insurance to celebrate people and their furry (or scaly!) children.

Humans have had pets for thousands of years; back when we would tame lone wolf cubs and domestic breeding began. Have you ever thought about how long it took to get a Chihuahua from a wolf? Other cultures have preferred the companionship of cats over dogs, to the point of reverence and worship. They are gods after all, are they not?

Last year, 67% of households in America had at least one pet. That’s a lot of people, and a lot of pets (not just dogs and cats) getting the caring love they need. So, whether you have a dog, cat, snake, lizard, fish, or any other pet that you love immensely—celebrate today by giving them a special treat! But don’t forget to treat yourself too.
