How to Celebrate Mom this Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day has its origins in mothering goddesses of the ancient Greeks and Romans, but in America was started in 1908 by Anna Jarvis. Although she later regretted how commercialized the holiday became, I think it’s a lovely way to honor our mothers for everything they do. If you’re wondering what you can do for your mom this year to make her feel special, read on!
Help In the Garden
We all know what a chore gardening can be. It’s hard on the body, so helping your mom out with her garden this spring is a huge help. Have your mom grab a chair, give her a nice cold lemonade, and have a chat while you water her plants for her. Mowing the lawn or trimming some bushes is helpful, too. Or, both of you can weed and get your hands dirty together. You won’t be-leaf how grateful she’ll be!
Take Her to Brunch
Brunch is quite obviously one of the greatest things ever invented, and is a great way to show your mom some love. If you’re having trouble finding anything that is open (we all know it’s a bit complicated these days) why not go back to basics and make it yourself? Brunch in bed, who can complain? She’ll eat it right up!
Give Her Something Handmade
I love hand making cards for all occasions, but especially Mother’s Day because honestly no one appreciates them quite like my mom and grandmas. If I have time I try to hand make my gifts as well. It adds such a personal touch and is something no one else will ever have. Show her she’s special by giving her something you made with the hands she made!
So if you are able, make sure to show your mom how much you love and appreciate her on this holiday… and every day!
